Port Canaveral Beach Re-nourishment Project
Project Overview This significant dredging project, undertaken in 1995, aimed to restore 3.5 miles of beach in the Port Canaveral area. With a budget of $18 million in federal funds, the project was the most extensive beach re-nourishment effort in the region at the time. The restoration work extended from Port Canaveral’s Jetty Park to south of Cocoa Beach Pier.

- Sand Placement: The project involved strategically placing sand along the 3.5-mile stretch of beach to counter erosion and restore beach width and elevation.
- Public Access Management:
- Temporary Restrictions: To ensure safety and efficiency, public access to sections of the beach within approximately 1,000 feet of the daily construction activity was temporarily restricted for about three to four days at a time. These restrictions minimized disruption while allowing the work to proceed smoothly.
