SAVANNAH HARBOR DREDGING
SAVANNAH, GA W912HN-19-C-5004

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Maintenance Dredging and Debris Removal Project

Project Overview This project involves comprehensive maintenance dredging and debris removal to restore navigational depths within specified areas, ensuring safe and efficient passage for maritime traffic. The project will address accumulated material within the existing maintenance prism, reaching required project depths and allowable over depths.

Scope of Work

  • Dredging Operations:
    • Material Removal: The project includes removing all accumulated material within the maintenance prism, covering maintenance and unclassified material.
    • Stations and Basin: Dredging will be conducted between Stations 70+000 to 103+000, including the Kings Island Turning Basin.
    • Required Depths: Dredging will achieve the required project depths and allowable over depths to ensure maritime safety.
  • Debris Removal and Diving:
    • Debris Removal: The contract includes the removal of debris that may obstruct navigation or dredging operations.
    • Diving Operations: Diving operations will be conducted as necessary to support dredging and debris removal activities, ensuring thorough and precise work.

Disposal of Dredged Material

  • Confined Upland Disposal: All dredged material will be transported to and disposed of in existing confined upland disposal sites. This approach minimizes environmental impact and ensures proper containment of dredged materials.

Environmental and Safety Considerations

  • Environmental Monitoring:
    • Turbidity Monitoring: Continuous water turbidity levels will be monitored throughout the dredging operations to maintain water quality and comply with environmental regulations.
    • Wildlife Protection: Measures will be implemented to minimize the impact on local wildlife, including monitoring and safeguarding against disruptions to aquatic habitats.
  • Safety Management:
    • Safety Protocols: Comprehensive safety protocols will be in place, including hazard assessments, site inspections, and safety training for all personnel.
    • Diving Safety: Specialized safety measures will be implemented for diving operations to ensure the safety of divers and support personnel.

TITAN’s Role and Contributions

    • Oversight: TITAN will oversee the quality control aspects of the dredging and debris removal operations, ensuring all work meets specified standards and project requirements.
    • Inspection and Documentation: Regular inspections and thorough documentation will be conducted to verify compliance with project specifications and regulatory guidelines.
  • Safety Management:
    • Safety Supervision: TITAN will provide safety supervision and training to ensure all personnel adhere to safety standards and best practices.
    • Hazard Mitigation: Proactive measures will be taken to identify and mitigate potential hazards, ensuring a safe working environment.

Project Highlights

  • Enhanced Navigation: The project will restore the navigability of the specified channels and turning basin, benefiting both commercial and recreational maritime traffic.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Stringent environmental monitoring and management practices will be employed to protect local ecosystems and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Operational Efficiency: Detailed planning and coordination will ensure efficient dredging and debris removal operations with minimal disruption to the surrounding area.

The maintenance dredging and debris removal project is essential for safe and efficient maritime navigation. TITAN’s expertise in quality control and safety management will ensure the project is executed to the highest standards, benefiting the waterway and the surrounding environment.
