TRANSFORMER INSTALL
FORT PECK, MT Contract: W9128F-20-C-0045

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The project involves several critical tasks related to removing, relocating, and installing transformers and associated equipment at the site. The scope of work includes:

Removal of Existing Equipment

  1. GSU Transformer Banks T2 and T4:
    • The existing single-phase Generator Step-Up (GSU) Transformer Banks T2 and T4 will be dismantled and removed from the site.
  2. Oilostatic Feeders for Transformer Banks T3 and T4:
    • The existing oilostatic feeders, which serve Transformer Banks T3 and T4, will also be removed. These feeders are critical for maintaining the insulation and cooling of the transformers, and their removal will be carefully managed to ensure safety and environmental compliance.

Relocation of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) Transformers

  1. Movement of GFE Transformers KY4A and KZ2A:
    • Two Government Furnished Equipment transformers, designated KY4A and KZ2A, will be relocated to new permanent locations within the site. This relocation requires precise planning and execution to ensure the transformers are moved without damage and are correctly positioned for optimal operation.

Installation of New Equipment and Connections

  1. New 15 kV Feeder for GFE Transformer KY4A:
    • A new 15 kV feeder will be provided for the GFE Transformer KY4A. This involves laying new high-voltage cables and ensuring they are correctly connected to the transformer and the power grid.
  2. New Connections for GFE Transformers:
    • New electrical connections will be established for the two GFE transformers, KY4A and KZ2A. This includes connecting the transformers to the power distribution system and ensuring secure and reliable electrical connectivity.
  3. New Group-Operated Disconnect 961:
    • A new group-operated disconnect switch, labeled 961, will be installed. This switch will isolate electrical circuits for maintenance or emergency purposes, enhancing the power system’s safety and flexibility.
  4. Protection, Control, and Annunciation Wiring:
    • New wiring will be provided for protection, control, and annunciation systems. This includes installing and connecting wiring for relay protection systems, control circuits for transformer operation, and annunciation systems to alert operators to any issues or alarms.

Auxiliary Systems and Ancillary Equipment

  1. Auxiliary Systems:
    • The project will include installing necessary auxiliary systems to support the operation of the new and relocated equipment. These systems may include cooling, monitoring, and maintaining the transformers.
  2. Ancillary Equipment:
    • All required ancillary equipment will be provided to ensure the proper installation and functioning of the transformers and associated systems. This includes any additional hardware, supports, and protective devices needed for a comprehensive and compliant setup.

Conclusion

The detailed and systematic approach to the removal, relocation, and installation tasks will ensure the power system’s reliability and efficiency. Each step, from dismantling existing equipment to installing new feeders and protection systems, is designed to enhance the site’s operational capabilities and safety. Carefully integrating new and relocated transformers and all necessary auxiliary and ancillary systems will provide a robust and resilient power infrastructure.
