First Floor Battalion Headquarters Renovations:

  • Masonry Shear Walls: Existing interior masonry shear walls were repaired and reinforced to enhance structural integrity.
  • Demolition: To accommodate new design elements, selective demolition of existing interior walls and the concrete slab was carried out.
  • Systems Replacement: The failing HVAC system, lighting, electrical systems, communication networks, fire alarm system, and plumbing were all replaced with modern, efficient alternatives.
  • Arms Vaults: Four new Arms Vaults were constructed on the first floor to meet security and storage requirements.

Structural Repairs:

• Foundation Upgrades: Comprehensive foundation upgrades were undertaken to ensure the building’s stability and compliance with current seismic codes.
• Shear Wall Reinforcement: Reinforcement of shear walls was necessary to enhance the building’s resistance to lateral forces.
• Beams and Columns: The structural beams and columns were strengthened to support the new facility layout and usage.
• Seismic Code Compliance: All structural repairs and upgrades were designed to meet the stringent seismic codes and facility category code upgrades required for the building’s new administrative use.

Second and Third Floor Conversions:

• Administrative Use Conversion: The second and third floors were transformed from their former barracks configuration to modern administrative offices, involving extensive repairs and upgrades to suit the new function.
• Electrical and Mechanical Work: Various electrical and mechanical systems were overhauled to support the building’s new use.
• Utility Systems: Upgrades and reconfigurations of utility systems were necessary to accommodate the change in building use.
• Boiler Removal: Existing boilers were removed, presenting a significant project challenge that required careful coordination.
