Quality Control for Critical Mechanical Upgrades at Fort Cavazos
We partnered with The Ross Group to provide expert Quality Control Management (QCM) for the crucial Mechanical Upgrades Project at Fort Cavazos, Texas (formerly Fort Hood). This project showcases our expertise in managing quality assurance for complex military infrastructure renovations.
Our Role: Quality Control Manager (QCM)
Operating under the strict oversight of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Task Order W9126G23F0357, our QCM was essential for the project’s successful completion:
Replace the existing 500kV group-operated switches ZU1, ZU2, ZU3 and ZU4 with surge resistors and grounding switches, and to construct and install the platforms and walkways and incidental related work. This includes the following:
Preparation of new mounting provisions for 500kV group-operated disconnect switches with surge resistors and manual grounding switches to fit in place of the existing 500kV hydraulic group-operated disconnect switches and grounding switches
Match existing connection points of the new switch terminals to the existing aluminum tubular buses and line terminations
Ensuring Technical Compliance: The scope of work was highly technical, including the total replacement of the failing HVAC system, major structural repairs, and the installation of a heavy-duty 10-ton crane. Our QCM meticulously inspected every phase of the mechanical and structural work to guarantee compliance with all Army and federal specifications.
Life Extension Guarantee: We managed the Three Phases of Control to certify that the work met the quality standards required to meet the client’s core goal: extending the facility’s operational life by 25 years.
By embedding a top-tier QCM, we helped deliver a robust, compliant, and high-quality motorpool facility that enhances the operational readiness of the U.S. Army. The project was completed successfully and signed off with an impeccable quality record.
