NATIONAL FISH HATCHERY
RHINELANDER, WI 693C7318C000048

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The project encompasses a comprehensive range of construction activities, including:

  1. Earthwork involves removing, moving, and placing soil or rock to create a suitable foundation for construction. It also includes grading, trenching, and soil compaction to ensure stability and proper drainage.

  2. Roadway Excavation and Reconditioning: This process involves digging out the existing roadway material to a specified depth, then reworking it to improve its properties or replacing it with new material. This ensures a solid and durable base for the new roadway.

  3. Resurfacing: This involves applying a new material layer to the existing roadway surface to restore its smoothness and improve its appearance and performance. It helps to extend the life of the roadway and enhance driving comfort.

  4. Asphalt Removal includes removing old or damaged asphalt layers from the roadway. This process ensures a clean and stable surface for new asphalt to be laid, promoting better adhesion and longevity of the new pavement.

5. Aggregate Base Replacement: This involves replacing the aggregate material below the asphalt. The aggregate base provides structural support and drainage for the roadway, ensuring stability and preventing water damage.

6. Asphalt Concrete Overlay: This process involves placing a new layer of concrete over the existing pavement. It improves the roadway’s structural integrity and surface quality, providing a smooth and durable driving surface.

7. Riprap Installation: Placing large stones or concrete pieces along the edges of waterways or embankments prevents erosion. Riprap stabilizes soil and protects infrastructure from water damage, ensuring long-term durability and stability.

These activities are integral to the successful completion of the project, ensuring a high-quality and long-lasting roadway that meets safety and performance standards.
