BRIEF DESCRIPTION
On October 25, 2024, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Wilmington District, awarded Contract No. W912PM25C0006 to Southwind Construction Corporation for a total value of $7,559,167.87.
This contract supports the Fiscal Year 2025 Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW) Maintenance Dredging project. The scope of work includes the maintenance dredging of federal navigation channels to restore authorized depths and ensure safe passage for commercial and recreational vessels along the AIWW in North Carolina.
Southwind Construction Corp will provide all necessary labor, equipment, and materials to perform mechanical or hydraulic dredging operations, including the transportation and placement of dredged material in designated disposal sites. The project also involves environmental protection measures, turbidity monitoring, and coordination with applicable state and federal agencies to ensure minimal impact on marine habitats and local communities.
Work under this contract is critical to maintaining the operational reliability of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway and supports the economic and logistical needs of the region’s coastal infrastructure.
